The Watzloves formed in 1998 and voodoo rhythm did theyr first album a view years later, in the period from 1998 til now there's a lot of change in the Watzloves they did several tours in Europe and had personal changes they grow from a 2 piece to a trio, silky the Head and female Jimmy Hendrix of the Accordion did work a lot as painter and had exhibitions in China Europe and Ecuador too ,on most of the shows of the Watzloves there's also a exibition of her work and you can buy her paintings at the show !!!
Now there's a new record of the most amazing Cajun band of all time the Watzloves, recordet at Bob's own 8 track studio with instruments such as Accordion (off course) Drums, Trombone, Slide Guitar, and Organ makes this record to the freshest Country Cajun Tex Mex and Zydecco record of all time, you will here Silkys fantastic song writing, sung sometimes in a duet with DM Bob but most time by her self... Die Watzloves formierten sich 1998, Voodoo Rhythm brachte ein paar Jahre später ihr erstes Album raus und von nun an tourten sie durch ganz Europa. Silky, die „frontfrau" der Truppe und Female Jimmy Hendrix des Akkordeons ist zugleich Malerin, sie hatte u.a. Ausstellung in Europa, China und Südamerika. Auf den meisten Shows stellt sie auch ihre Bilder aus.
Nun gibt es eine neue Platte der unglaublichsten Cajun Band aller Zeiten: „Country Rockin' Gumbo"! Aufgenommen in DM Bob's eigenen 8 Track Studio; Akkordeon, Drums, Trombone, Slide Guitar und Orgel machen diese Scheibe zu einem brisanten Gemisch aus Country Cajun, Tex Mex und Zydeco.
Silky ist eine fantastische Songschreiberin, DM Bob begleitet sie in einigen Duetten, spielt die Drums wie kein Zweiter und Jack O. Bus spielt sämtlichen unorthodoxen Instumente, wie Slide Gitarre und Trombone...
Der unglaubliche Märt Infanger entwarf das Cover – und wir sind uns sicher, dass wir nicht zum letzten Mal von ihm gehört haben!

Superior Quality!!!: The Watzloves vieron la luz del mundo como airado dúo en un LP de integrista y exclusiva edición en vinilo, presentación artesanal y título revelador: "Polka Jamboree de Luxe". Aunque el batería Guido se fugó a los Cool Jerks, la corajuda acordeonista y agradable cantora Silky Toss ( o sea, Silke Thoss) reinventa la formación, esta vez como trío, reclutando para la juguetona causa a su novio DM Bob (Robert Tooke para Hacienda y el Mundo Real, "...el último caimán del Blues y el Cajun Tex Mex Zydeco Trash, tocando siempre como si fuese lo último que hiciera en su vida...", según la leyenda) y al bueno de Jakobus (luciendo un indescriptible look redneck), funcionariado polivalente, que dirían en una multinacional, que le pega con imperturbable entusiasmo a la batería, la tabla de lavar ( la llamada "Frottoire": golpéala con monedas, palillos y algo de ritmo y lo harás correctamente), el trombón-guasón o las guitarras campurrianas. Amparando siempre las trotonas y grasientas tonadillas de la rubia y su incansable acordeón, The Watzloves atacan con escaso escrúpulo, y gran potencia, cantinelas cajun ( pronuncia "cayán") tan pegajosas como "Cherry Stone", "Jealously", "Voodoo Doll" o "Drive your car", impregnan de Rockabilly tan orgulloso género, buscan el origen de la frenética bacanal en el espejo europeo ("You are so strange"), pintan de negritud su ritmo ("Zydeco Dance") y demuestran, apareando respeto y algarabía, que el fundamento de esta música, túmida por la humedad ambiental, germina en su condición de bailón y afrodisíaco prolegómeno a dos placeres rotundos en nuestro nunca solicitado periplo por esta tierra de sollozos: la fiesta sexual con la compañera/o bien amada/o y el papeo desproporcionado e inclemente. El último motivo se celebra ampliamente en el fantástico diseño (salivosa visita a una pescadería de Nueva Orleáns junto a nuestros anfitriones) que Märt Infanger ha ideado para el distraído viaje de vuelta que, devolviendo la pelota del Pop y el Rock´n´Roll a tan instintivas ceremonias de Alegría, efectuamos en la compañía del trío del pantano. Funcionará sólo como espejo (estas cosas emulsionan en carne y hueso, claro, y, no hace falta insistir, no inventan nada de nada), pero la enorme y criolla sonrisa de sus mejores instantes se agradece con otra casi tan grande. This label puts out the most interesting and diverse music! From psychobilly to surf to retro '60s style garage rock to country blues music. The Watzloves are a band featuring Deutschmark Bob of DM Bob and the Deficits - a great Hounddog Taylor inspired trashy blues-garage rock band - but this is quite different. It's a sort of mix (hence the CD title I 'spose) of country, zydeco, calypso and New Orleans jazz. Silky Toss plays accordion and does the lead singing, Bob (who actually hails from Louisiana, though he lives in Germany now) sings backing vocals and plays guitar, washboard, and drums, and Jakebus plays slide guitar, tuba, and sings backing vocals too. There's an obvious strong Cajun music feel, and I'm not a huge Zydeco fan but this is pretty cool stuff. The songs are all neat little stories, and the playing by all is excellent. There's a twisted sense of humor permeating it with songs like "You Are The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly" (a Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynne duet cover), "Voodoo Queen" and "You Are So Strange," but not enough to make it simply a novelty act. "Go Away Now" is my favorite song overall, a super-catchy little number with a rockin' beat. Fun stuff here.

Ich hab'retro-mäßig mal wieder n' bisschen rumgekramt und ne VÖ entstaubt, die inzwischen schon zwei bis drei Jährchen zurückliegt. Taataaaa! Da hätten wir: Cajun-Akkordeon-Punk zwischen Polka und eigenwilligem traditional Schunkelschwank. Dieser klischeelose, bissel kranke American Folk eines norddeutschen Trios, ist ein Zögling von...?
JA, RICHTIG –
Voodoo Rhythm, dem Schweizer Record Label, das wohl inzwischen für seine außergewöhnlichen (manchmal auch gewöhnungsbedürftigen) Spezialitätenregale bekannt sein dürfte. Die Watzloves lassen mit ihrer Mucke 100pro in jedem Bierzelt die Lucie steppen. „Blues Alligator" DM Bob trommelt sich jedes Mal dermaßen einen zurecht, als wär´s das letzte Mal und seine Freundin Silky, in Fach- und Kennerkreisen als „Jimmy Hendrix on the accordion" gehuldigt, zeigt sich gleichwohl multikulturell wenn's ums Betexten geht . Der Mann der restlichen Instrumente is named Jack-O-BUS. Er kennt angeblich sämtliche Bars in Hanse-Metropole Hamburg und spielt auch so. Die 14 Songs der „Rockin Country Gumbo" klingen so was von unmodern und unpopulär, dass es regelrecht altertümlich erfrischt. Funkabilly-Garagen-Rockin-Blues der saumäßig Spaß macht.

Die reichlich wilde Kirmesversion einer Texmex-Country-Band, um mal kurz die besoffene Schunkel-Fröhlichkeit dieser eigenartigen Band zu umschreiben. Man ist von Voodoo Rhythm ja einiges seltsames gewöhnt, aber THE WATZLOVES sind schon eine Sache für sich. Im Gegensatz zu der Friedhofsstimmung der DEAD BROTHERS schlägt bei den WATZLOVES das Spaßbarometer ganz weit aus, wenn sie ihre Interpretation von Cajun-Musik präsentieren, die selbst die trübesten Tassen von den Ärschen reißen dürfte. Die in Nordeutschland angesiedelte Band besteht seit 1998 und ist inzwischen zum Trio angewachsen. „Rockin Country Gumbo" ist ihre zweite Platte auf Voodoo Rhythm und man ist mal wieder schwer entzückt über die konstante Geschmackssicherheit des Schweizer Labels. Akkordeon hielt ich bisher zwar immer für einen wichtigen Bestandteil spießiger Schrebergarten-Besäufnisse, aber Frontfrau Sike Thoss, die ansonsten noch als Künstlerin unterwegs ist, spielt das olle Schifferklavier doch eher mal wie ein stilechtes Rock'n'Roll-Instrument. Am Schlagzeug übrigens DM Bob, kein Unbekannter im Voodoo Rhythm-Universum. THE WATZLOVES zeigen ziemlich beeindruckend, wie man sich als nicht-amerikanische Band amerikanische Folk-Standards aneignen kann, ohne in irgendeine Klischeefalle zu tappen, und dabei auch noch so richtig originell zu klingen. Wenn man eine Veröffentlichung der letzten drei Monate wirklich besitzen sollte, dann ganz sicher diese! 10/10
