THE DEAD BROTHERS ,Dead Music for Dead People' LP: VR1205 ( EAN CODE : 7640111760245) CD: VRCD05 (EAN CODE: 7640111767206)  one of the most bizarre and acts out of Switzerland, they are actually a funeral orchestra !!! they do the Dirty Blues the Cajun Polka, and do a freak show live on stage, on this their 1st record they play Hank Williams 'ramblin man' with Tuba!! as well the animals classic: I'm crying... and lots of their own songs what is a ultra Crazy Mixture of Low Down Tuba Rock'n'roll, Gipsy polka Blues Trash French Cabaret and finest Django Reinhard Jazz.. and on top western and Country.... But the best thing on this record is that they give a damn about proper Hi Fidelity recordings and wend Back to the Roots with the recordings.. and recorded the Whole Album with only ONE MIKE !!! don't be scared now.. it's not sounding like shit or Trash..it's all here and they are perfect mussisans and how they did it..the whole album has a fantastic Near Warm Charme anyway if you or your one of your friend should die call up those guys... they play together with T-Model Ford, the blues explosion.. better buy this record now!! |
| DEUTSCH: Eine der bizarrsten Bands aus der Schweiz, genau genommen handelt es sich bei den Dead Brothers um ein Begräbnisorchester! Sie spielen Dirty Blues, Cajun Polka und liefern obendrein noch eine unglaubliche Live Show ab. Ihre Werke sind ein Mix aus Low Down Tuba Rock'n'Roll, Gypsy Polka Blues Trash, Französisches Kabarett und feinstem Django Reinhardt Swing. Auf diesem ersten Album ist neben ihren eigenen Kompositionen noch eine Tuba-Version von Hank Williams „Ramblin' Man" und dem Animals Klassiker „I'm Crying" zu hören. Bemerkenswert ist auch, dass die Dead Brothers sich nicht um saubere Hi Fidelety Aufnahmen scheren. „Dead Music For Dead People" wurde mit nur einem Mikro aufgenommen! Hab jetzt keine Angst, es hört sich keineswegs schlecht an, die Dead Brothers sind durch die Bank weg ausgezeichnete Musiker, und ihre Art zu spielen verleiht ihrem Debütalbum eine aussergewöhnlich warme, charmante Note. Noch zu erwähnen ist, dass sie mit der Blues-Legende T-Model Ford zusammen spielten! |

REVIEWS: MUSIC DISH This album, this band, is just fantastic. The 9-piece Dead Brothers, hailing from Switzerland, are like a cross between a New Orleans funeral procession and The Cramps, with gorgeous tubas and accordions and a host of tinny horns and stringed instruments and devastatingly funny/creepy lyrics about dead children and girls in short skirts and finding things in the mud, sung in both English and French. Lead singer Dead Alain takes these songs right over the top with his falsetto impersonation of a nagging wife in "Farmer Boy" - sounds so much like my husband's impersonation of me that I almost choked the first time I heard it. HASHARAT (Israel) הדד בראדרז הם חבורה של תשעה חוליגנים מאיזור הפרברים של אירופה, שהחליטו להעביר את המוזיקה המזוהה-מאוד כניו אורלינסית דרך האוויר העכור של אירופה, בשילוב החולניות המשובבת של הקראמפס ועוד מריעין בישין מהצד הטוב של הסקאלה. ולא בכדי הם בחרו בשם הזה לתקליט, כמין מחווה קריפטית לאי-פי הראשון שהקראמפס הוציאו לפני יותר מעשרים שנה O.X (D) Die Totenbrüder... Wer jetzt denkt, hier würde eine weitere Band mit den üblichen Totenkopf-R´n´R-Klischees spielen, ist auf der falschen Spur. Nein, die DEAD BROTHERS kann man als Beerdigungskapelle mieten, aber sie spielen auch nur so zur Unterhaltung. Kopf der aus Genf stammenden Band ist Alain Croubalin, der in den Achtzigern die Garageband THE MANIACS gegründet hatte, dann aber auf einen musikalisch ganz anderen Trichter kam: Voodoo Blues, Cajun, New Orleans eben - und Trauermusik.Und so stellte er die DEAD BROTHERS zusammen, eine Kapelle mit Tuba, Banjo, Akkordeon etc. und Gesang übers Megaphon.Gekleidet natürlich, dem Anlass angemessen, in schwarze Anzüge, Hüte dürfen auch nicht fehlen. Und so stehen sie dann neun Mann hoch auf der Bühne, spielen melancholische Musik zwischen französischem Chanson und Trash-Blues, die gewaltig auf die Tränendrüse drückt und doch gewaltig Spaß macht. Wenn Labelboss Beat-Man, sowieso ein ausgewiesener Spezialist für Kuriositäten, behauptet, seine Neuentdeckung sei eine der bizarrsten Acts der Scweiz und Europas, würde ich nach dem Hören der Platte nicht mal widersprechen, sondern verlange vielmehr, die Truppe mal gen Germanien auf Tour zu senden |
