Born in 2005 the band was originally a duo.Their main influences had always been the Birthday Party and the Gun Club and in the early years they start to play a couple of shows in Italy with just a drum and an organ. In 2006 a guitarist join the band for the recordings of the first 7 inch,recorded in a refregerate cell with a 4 tracks and released the same year by A Fistful of Records(Holland):"A-side Dolls Come In is a slow,moody,mean floor crawlerreminding you of about everything negative or dark sounding record in the Crypt catalog,but without leaving me with the possibility to refer to this or that band...desperate vocals,moaning organ,trashy distorted guitar....you've been there so you feel at home but still...b-side Garsin continues in the same vein,only a little less prominent.keep your eyes peeled folks,this was my live surprise of 2007 so far and i really think we're onto something here." Sam Geert s -up yours magazine - Belgium ."After several compilations and gigs in France Croatia and U.k.(also opening acts for Jon Spencer Blues Explosion,Lost Sounds...)the trio put out a new 7 inch released by Nasty Poduct(France)and hit Europe again for a month,performing in clubs,squats galleries and streets.In 2007 they record 5 songs in the same refregerate cell and the italian label No-fi records releases them for a limited cassette series:"Here we are with the second limited edition tape from the underground roman label No fi recordings.These Movie Star Junkies seems to be ready to go down to the deepest and darkest side of rock n roll,with a claustrophobic sound that clarely reminds the Scientists and the Chrome Cranks,you can easily find the influence of these 2 bands listening to Black Caraibi,Requiem pour un con by Serge Gainsbourg,Subliminal Man .the visionary s/t and the kinda n.y.sound The Sink Song are enough to realise how unique this band is in the italian music scene.
Fabio Polvani-blow up magazine-Italy".In the same year another guitarist and a saxophone player join the band,and after the second european tour(in France Germany Belgium and Holland)the band is ready to record 10 new songs,4 of them will be released the year after on a 10 inch split w/ The feeling of love by Rijapov/bibimbap records(Italy/France).In early 2008 the band is formed by 2 guitars 1 bass drums organ and voice,and under the influences of Radikal Satan and Il Gran Teatro Amaro starts to perform some acoustic shows too.In january part of the LP is recorded in a farm near the original refregerate cell (Cuneo),and part will be recorded in march in the complete analog studio "Outside Inside"(Treviso)after another european tour with The feeling of love, with gigs in Hungary Slovenia and East Europe too.

Tales of ordinary madness, dirty love, illness and sorrow continues and brings us down to the deepest and darkest side of Rock n Roll. Voodoo Rhythm Records is proud to announce the brand new 2nd album of Italians greatest blues punk combo, the MOVIE STAR JUNKIES. The opus is called "A POISON TREE" and its an intense and devilish journey through timeless and sinister murder ballads. Noisy and gloomy tunes, some altered visions from the holy inquisition to WILLIAM BLAKE.
We don't talking about his "Songs of Innocence", Its industrial, its rock n roll marching music from the 14THcentury creating claustrophobic sounds ...To understand it you have to have an appreciation for the dark side of life...
The energy and anger of that strange and familiar sound appears not just by the length of their songs. Two minutes wasn't enough to create this absorbing music and it starts with frantic surf guitars and a marching drum beat attended by that incredible angry and self destructive vocalist who sings about getting buried under a tree, and that tree burns thru the hole record until it changes in to the amazing "a Poison Tree", a poem which was written by William Blake himself.
Their first album "Melville" has been reviewed and appreciated as one of the best records in 2008 all over Europe and America. They toured Europe several times and came back from a succesful U.S tour where they shared stages with some of the best bands around, like the Oh Sees, The Lamps, Blank Dogs and Demon's Claws, they also recorded a live show for New Yorks famous WFMU Radio. It was clear that another liason would happend soon. No one could stop them, so after their return to Italy they produced their second amazing album, which one more time bears traces of the amazing work by Outside Inside Studios in Venice
The Bands live set its full Farfisa drenched madness, bloody chords, angry vocals that bring the crowd into an obscure and moody sound and their -fucked up attitude- reminds you of bands such as Demon's claws, the Black Lips or the early Cramps.

Movie Star Junkies are back with a grudge. The 3rd album on Voodoo Rhythm Records (2008 - melville 2010 a poson tree)
EVIL MOODS, sets things clear right from the title. Lyrically inspired by the pioneers of noir/hardboiled fiction like Dashiell Hammett, James Cain and Jim Thompson (whom the eponimous song is dedicated to) as well as by autobiographic experiences, the music also sees a return to the grittier Rawer Sound, the band walking paths that led them across the sun-scorched territories of folk and americana. The Album was recorded in Italy on a Farm and mixed in Berlin, features on two songs the percussive work of Maximilian Weissenfeldt of Heliocentrics and Whitefield Brothers
The Band Started in Torino Italy 2005. After their debut single, and Albums on Voodoo Rhythm records and Outside Inside Records they Toured Europe a couple times. together with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Lost Sounds, etc in 2013 they Did their 1st USA Tour and recorded a live show for New York’s famous WFMU radio station, Its Incredable how Special and Unique this band sounds and stands out in the italian and World Wide music scene. They do their very own thing, Totaly Inspired By Books and Writers Herman Melvile, Friedrich Nietsche etc Squeezing it all into their Musik mixed up in a Storm of Poerty like no one else can do, they are Deffenetly Home in the 4th Generation Garage Scene ( chrome cranks, Thee Oh Sees ,black lips, Country Treasers, Ty Segall etc) but as well totaly different, they Shreding parts of the Birthday Party ( Nick Cave's 1st band) Free Jazz , LSD Oriented Sailor Exotica and Garage Punk Folk Psychadelica and mix it all together into the Music of the Movie Star Junkies
