Ich muss gestehen, dass ich, von einigen Psychobilly-Bands einmal abgesehen, in Sachen Rock'n'Roll nicht gerade auf dem Laufenden bin. Zu den wenigen Ausnahmen, die ich wirklich regelmäßig höre, zählen die Bands des Label-Chefs Beat-Man, der mit dem inzwischen vierten Teil der Voodo Rhythm Compilation eine überraschende Vielseitigkeit der Bands auf Voodoo Rhythm Records präsentiert. Von Rockabilly über Blues bis hin zu jazzigen oder auch Singer/Songwriter-Stücken ist auf den Samplern alles zu finden, was auch nur im Entferntesten etwas mit Rock'n'Roll zu tun hat. Dabei zeichnen sich die Bands fast durchgängig durch wenig Klischees und dafür viel Authentizität aus. Was will man mehr?! Mit dabei sind unter anderem THE FUTURE PRIMITIVES, HANK HAINT, THE PUSSYWARMERS und BECKY LEE AND DRUNKFOOT, um einmal einige Highlights aufzuzählen.

It's a real bargain to lost your control mind when u dig this item 'cuz it's a records to ruin any party ! . If it's too loud (for you) it's mean , you 're too old !

The label doesn't lie. Swiss label Voodoo Rhythm is like an oasis of noise in a sea of bland and the series of samplers it puts out there from time to time are its freak flag, fully unfurled and flying high.Volume 4 is lives up to its predecessors with 13 cuts of trashy rock and roll, rockabilly and blues. There's something here for everybody - provided "everybody" includes party hosts who sadistically relish clearing rooms. From the mono-brow simplicity of Die Zorros from Switzerland (label honcho Beat-Man being among their number) to the two-man R & B blast that is The Goon Mat And Lord Bernardo, it's varied and usually wild.If this was on vinyl you could easily re-cailbrate the tracks to produce a trash rock side and a flip full of more traditional, rootsy stuff. That it hasn't been means "Records To Ruin Any Party" jumps around like a frat boy with a chilli in his foreskin after a party trick went wrong. You get the sparse Texan blues of Becky Lee & Drunkfoot's "Old Fasihoned Man" wedged between Roy And The Devil's spacerock lilt of "Six Pinc Cadillac" and the warped Germanic jazz of The Pussywarmers' "La Nen La Bambele." Some may find all that stylistic hopping around hard to handle. To me, it underlines the scope of what Voodoo Rhythm is all about.It's hard to go past The Monsters, Beat-Man's own punk thrash outfit, and "Blow Um Mau Mau" as the best song on this collection. It thuds and grinds without the slightest concession to radio airplay. On the milder side, you be silly not to cock an ear to the megaphonic R & B of Delaney Davidson ("Windy City") or the rich vocal talent of Becky Lee. In a similar vein, Kiwis Heart Attack Alley deliver a swinging "Too Hot Blues" that's good enough to start a party.Honourable mentions also to primal rocvkers The Future Primitives and the redoubtable Hipbone Slim, this time paired with zydeco specialists Mama Rosin. This is a sampler that covers a lot of bases.If you've only heard of Voodoo Rhythm and have never taken the plunge, this collection is a risk-free place to jump in.

Starker Tobak. Dem Puristen drohen eingebaute Soll-Bruchstellen, nicht flächendeckend winken Schnittmengen mit verstaubten Lausch-Gewohnheiten. Über Gebühr lärmende Gesellen wie The Monsters könnten für irreparable Flurschäden im Gehörgang der Blues-Polizei sorgen. But I love it! Immerhin beherbergen 13 meist kernige Übungen dennoch reichlich Zwölftakter-kompatible Einlagen. Empfohlen seien Die Zorros, Juke Joint Pimps, Heart Attack Alley oder Mama Rosins Zydeco-Update. Den versammelten Interpreten-Mob eint seine unkonventionelle, ruppige Handschrift. Selbige tut mal richtig gut, e basta. Wer sich fürchtet vor garagenlastigen, unperfekt punkig angehauchten Trash-Attitüden, mag weiterhin den verschollenen 30. Robert-Johnson-Song an irgendwelchen Crossroads suchen. Alle umherirrenden Traditionalisten treffen spätestens erneut auf die hiesige Bad-Boys-Zielgruppe, wenn Becky Lee And Drunkfoot ihr herzzerreißend herrliches „Old Fashioned Man" intonieren. Dazu darf nämlich gemeinsam geweint werden. Hernach lassen The Pussywarmers schmunzeln, bevor sich Menic mittels Lagerfeuer-Folk unter fremde Wolldecken kuschelt. Saumäßig lohnendes Potpourri, viva Underground! Musik will leben, atmen, aus dem Korsett springen. Damit die Reise ohne Grenzen weitergeht. Geschmeidig bleibt. Dafür Danke, Voodoo Rhythm.
